DecentralisedChain is written by Firoz Khan, who has been investing on and off since 2008 and works in product management. Firoz is not a financial expert and does not claim to be. We are here to explain how things work, show the real numbers and be honest about the mistakes people make, not to tell you what to do with your money.

Rules and rates come from primary sources wherever they exist: gov.uk and HMRC guidance for tax, pensions and allowances, the FCA and its register for regulation and authorised firms, and a provider's own published terms for product details.

Tax thresholds, allowances and rates are checked against the current UK tax year and updated when they change. Every article shows the date it was published, so you can see how current its figures are. Each calculator has a "How we calculate this" note explaining its assumptions.

When we correct something that changes what an article says, such as a figure, a rule or a conclusion, we fix it and add a dated note to the article saying what changed. Typos and small wording fixes are made without a note. When an article is substantially revised, the page shows an "Updated" date next to the published date.
